Habitual is an independent publication based in Canada, writing for the people whose homes are smaller than the ones in magazines. Studio apartments, one-bedroom rentals, condos in cities where square footage is rare and dear.

Most home decor content treats small spaces as a problem to be solved with more stuff. We think it's a discipline to be enjoyed — owning less, choosing more carefully, and letting light, texture, and a few well-made objects do the work.

Every product we recommend has lived in a real editor's apartment for at least 90 days. If a piece doesn't earn its footprint, it doesn't make the list.
